Areas of Clinical Focus

Depression

Depression involves a persistent sense of sadness, emptiness, or loss of interest that affects how a person feels, thinks, and functions. It can lead to emotional and physical symptoms such as changes in sleep or appetite, low energy, difficulty concentrating, and feelings of hopelessness or low self-worth. In some cases, depression may include thoughts of death or suicide.

Anxiety

Anxiety can appear as excessive worry, fear, or tension that feels out of proportion to life events. Common symptoms include restlessness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, and trouble controlling worry. When anxiety interferes with daily activities, relationships, or overall well-being, professional support can help restore balance.

Childhood Trauma & PTSD

Experiencing trauma in childhood or adulthood can lead to ongoing emotional distress known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive memories, emotional numbness, or avoidance of reminders of the trauma. Individuals may also experience heightened startle responses, anxiety, or depressed mood. Healing focuses on safety, emotional regulation, and reclaiming a sense of control.

Addiction

Addiction is a chronic condition that alters the brain’s reward, motivation, and memory systems. It involves compulsive use of substances or engagement in behaviors despite harmful consequences. Cravings, loss of control, and preoccupation with the substance or behavior are common. Effective treatment emphasizes understanding underlying causes, building coping skills, and restoring a healthy sense of self.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD affects focus, organization, and impulse control. Symptoms may include distractibility, forgetfulness, restlessness, impulsivity, or mood swings. Adults with ADHD may struggle to manage responsibilities, sustain attention, or regulate emotions. Therapy can help improve attention, structure, and emotional regulation for a more balanced daily life.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is a long-term condition characterized by intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions). These behaviors are often performed to reduce anxiety, even when individuals recognize they are excessive. Treatment helps individuals manage these thoughts and behaviors to regain control and reduce distress.

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)

OCPD involves a preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, and control. People with this condition may rigidly adhere to rules, struggle to delegate tasks, and hold high standards for themselves and others. This pattern can interfere with flexibility, relationships, and overall life satisfaction. Therapy focuses on developing self-compassion, flexibility, and healthier ways of relating to others.

Grief and Loss

Grief is a natural response to loss—whether it’s the death of a loved one, a major life change, or the loss of stability and normalcy. Common reactions include shock, disbelief, sadness, anger, or guilt. Over time, grief can evolve and lessen in intensity, but support can help individuals process emotions and find meaning after loss.

Loss of Spirituality

A loss of spirituality can leave individuals feeling disconnected, uncertain, or without purpose. It may occur after personal hardship, grief, or disillusionment with faith or meaning. This spiritual disconnection can impact emotional well-being, relationships, and one’s sense of identity. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore beliefs, restore inner peace, and reconnect with a sense of hope, meaning, and spiritual wholeness—whatever form that may take for you.

Elderly Mental Health

Aging brings unique emotional and psychological challenges, including isolation, grief, physical decline, or the transition to new living arrangements. Many older adults face depression, anxiety, or cognitive changes that affect independence and quality of life. Therapy for older adults focuses on maintaining dignity, fostering purpose, enhancing relationships, and supporting both emotional and physical well-being in the later stages of life.
